Papanikolaou test or Pap smear is a screening method gynecology, triggered by Georgios Papanikolaou. This test is used to find the processes of premalignant and malignant in the ectocervix and endocervix and endometrial infection. A Pap smear is used to detect cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus or HPV. According to estimates, in the UK Pap prevent about 700 deaths per year.
